Student Agreement
A Welcome Before We Begin
Sat Nam. I'm glad you're here.
Before you commit to this work, I want to be honest about what it is and what it isn't, so that whatever you choose, you're choosing it clearly.
The teachings come from continuous lineages — primarily Kundalini Yoga as transmitted through my teacher Yogi Amandeep Singh in the Udāsīn and Nirmalā traditions, and the broader Sanaatana Dharma stream that flows through them. They're transmitted as I received them, in the language and forms the traditions use to carry themselves. They can be quiet and they can be intense. They can bring up material you didn't expect. Sometimes the work moves slowly. Sometimes it moves fast. Both rhythms are part of the practice.
This is not therapy and it isn't medical care. It isn't a wellness subscription. It's a teaching relationship within a living tradition, and the structure below exists because that relationship works best when both sides are clear about what's being offered and what's being asked.
What's being offered is the practice as it lives in this lineage. What's being asked is your sincere engagement — and, when you commit, your willingness to stay through what arises. The agreement that follows is detailed because both the work and the commitment are serious, not because I expect difficulty with you. Most students never need to think about most of it. It's here so that the doorway is clear, the room is held, and we can practice together without later misunderstandings about what was offered and what was received.
If, after reading what follows, you'd rather not commit, that's the right decision and we part on good terms. If you'd rather step in, welcome. The sangat is glad you're here.
Student Agreement and Waiver
By purchasing a subscription, drop-in class, class pack, private session, or any other offering through The Living Path, and by participating in any teaching offered by Gian Navjeet Singh (also known as Tanner Menard), I acknowledge and agree to the following.
1 Nature of the Teachings
The teachings offered through The Living Path include Kundalini Yoga, nondual contemplative practice, visionary poetics, and transmission from the Udāsīn and Nirmalā lineages. These are traditional spiritual practices originating in South Asian contemplative traditions, transmitted through living teachers within continuous lineages.
These teachings are not exercise classes, therapy, medical treatment, psychiatric care, nutritional counseling, dietary advice, entertainment, or wellness products. They address consciousness, embodiment, and spiritual realization within a traditional framework that predates and is distinct from modern Western evidence-based medicine. I am purchasing access to these teachings — not a service guaranteed to produce any particular outcome and not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
2 Yogic Remedies and Recommendations — Traditional Knowledge, Not Medical Advice
I understand that during group classes, private sessions, sangat communications, written teachings, recordings, and any other context in which I engage with The Living Path, Gian Navjeet Singh may offer or describe a wide range of yogic remedies, traditional practices, and lineage-derived recommendations, including but not limited to:
- Specific kriyas (yogic exercise sets) recommended for particular conditions, life circumstances, or states of consciousness
- Breath practices (pranayama) including breath retention, rapid breathing, alternate-nostril breathing, and breath restriction techniques
- Mantras, chanting practices, and sound-based meditations
- Mudras (hand and body positions) for specific energetic effects
- Bandhas (energetic locks) and their applications
- Dietary recommendations drawn from yogic, Ayurvedic, or lineage traditions (foods to favor, foods to avoid, fasting practices, traditional preparations)
- Lifestyle recommendations regarding sleep, daily rhythm, sexual practice, relationships, work, and study
- Recommendations regarding supplements, herbs, oils, or substances traditionally used within yogic and Ayurvedic practice
- Energetic and subtle-body recommendations addressing prana, chakras, nadis, and kundalini
- Spiritual practices addressing specific psychological, emotional, or spiritual conditions
- Recommendations regarding meditation practice, mantra repetition counts, sadhana structure, and ceremonial observance
- Astrological observations and recommendations from Vedic Jyotish tradition
- Any other guidance offered in the context of lineage teaching
I understand and explicitly acknowledge:
a) These are yogic remedies, not medical treatments. They are drawn from traditional knowledge systems — Kundalini Yoga as transmitted by Yogi Bhajan and the Udāsīn/Nirmalā lineages, classical Ayurveda, the broader Sanaatana Dharma tradition, and other contemplative streams. They are recommendations within those traditional frameworks. They are not medical diagnoses, prescriptions, treatments, or cures.
b) Some peer-reviewed scientific research exists on Kundalini Yoga and related practices. Studies have examined effects of specific kriyas, pranayama techniques, and meditation on conditions including anxiety, depression, PTSD, cognitive function, and various physiological markers. However, the specific recommendations I receive within The Living Path are not, themselves, scientifically validated medical interventions. The existence of general research on yoga does not mean that any particular kriya, breath practice, mantra, dietary suggestion, or lifestyle recommendation given to me has been clinically proven to produce any specific outcome for my specific condition.
c) I undertake these practices entirely on my own accord and at my own risk. The decision to follow any yogic remedy, recommendation, kriya, dietary suggestion, breath practice, lifestyle adjustment, or any other guidance offered through The Living Path is mine alone. I am exercising my own judgment, taking responsibility for my own discernment, and accepting full liability for any outcome — favorable, unfavorable, expected, or unexpected.
d) I will consult licensed medical and mental health professionals for medical and mental health concerns. If I have a medical condition, mental health condition, pregnancy, recent surgery, chronic illness, prescription medication regimen, or any other situation requiring professional care, I will consult qualified licensed practitioners about whether and how to safely engage with any specific yogic recommendation. I will not substitute yogic remedies for medical care. I will not stop or modify prescribed medications based on yogic recommendations without consulting my prescribing physician.
e) I will not interpret yogic recommendations as medical advice. If Gian Navjeet Singh suggests that a particular kriya is "good for the nervous system" or that a particular dietary practice "supports liver function" or that a breath practice "addresses anxiety," I understand these statements are made within the traditional yogic framework — describing the practice's effects as understood within the lineage — and are not medical claims about diagnosis or treatment.
f) If I am injured or harmed by following any recommendation, I bear the responsibility. I will not hold Gian Navjeet Singh, The Living Path, the Mahasiddha Baba Sri Chand Ashram, or any associated entity responsible for any physical, mental, emotional, financial, or other harm arising from my decision to undertake any practice or follow any recommendation offered in the context of these teachings.
3 Intensity of the Practice
I understand that Kundalini Yoga is a powerful and sometimes intense practice. The practices can produce physical sensations including but not limited to: heat, cold, shaking, tingling, dizziness, fatigue, muscle soreness, lightheadedness, nausea, and strong emotional release.
In some students, sustained or intense practice can activate experiences traditionally described as kundalini awakening, which may include unusual perceptual phenomena, strong emotional states, intense energy movement, and shifts in self-perception. These effects are recognized within contemplative traditions and are part of the practice working, not malfunctions of it.
I am responsible for my own pacing, my own discernment about what I can sustain, and my own decisions about whether to continue practicing. If a practice exceeds what I can hold, my responsibility is to stop the practice and care for myself, not to expect the teaching to be modified or refunded.
4 Psychological and Emotional Effects — Acknowledgment of Possible Intensity, Triggering, and Destabilization
I understand and accept that contemplative practice and lineage transmission can bring up material I did not anticipate and may not be prepared for. This includes:
- Strong emotional reactions: grief, anger, fear, joy, ecstasy, terror, or disorientation
- Surfacing of memories, including memories of trauma, abuse, neglect, or loss
- Activation of trauma responses including dissociation, flashbacks, somatic distress, or hyperarousal
- Encounters with what depth psychology calls shadow material
- Shifts in identity, worldview, sense of self, or perception of reality
- Visionary, mystical, numinous, or anomalous experiences that may feel destabilizing
- Periods that may feel like spiritual emergency or "dark night"
- Feeling that the teachings are too intense, too fast, too challenging, or wrong for me
I acknowledge that any or all of these may occur, and I accept that they are inherent to the work, not failures of it. Whether such experiences are productive or harmful for me depends on factors only I can assess — my history, my current life circumstances, my psychological resources, my support network, and my honest discernment.
I take complete responsibility for my own psychological wellbeing. If the teachings feel too intense, trigger trauma responses, destabilize my mental health, activate symptoms, or otherwise feel wrong for me at this point in my life, my responsibility is to step away from the practice and, if needed, seek appropriate support from a licensed mental health practitioner. I will not hold Gian Navjeet Singh, The Living Path, the Mahasiddha Baba Sri Chand Ashram, or any associated entity responsible for emotional, psychological, or spiritual difficulties that arise from sincere engagement with the teachings — including difficulties I did not anticipate and could not have foreseen.
No refund or compensation is owed to me if the teachings prove too intense, trigger material I am not ready to face, or are otherwise different from what I expected.
5 Not Therapy, Not Medical Treatment
Gian Navjeet Singh is not a licensed therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, physician, social worker, or medical practitioner. The teachings are spiritual and contemplative practices, not therapy or medical care, and not a substitute for professional treatment.
If I am currently in mental health treatment, I will discuss this practice with my treating professional and determine, in consultation with them, whether sustained engagement is appropriate. If I am currently experiencing significant mental health symptoms — including but not limited to active psychosis, untreated bipolar disorder, severe trauma symptoms, acute suicidal ideation, severe dissociation, severe eating disorders, or active addiction — I understand that contemplative practice may not be appropriate for me at this time, and I will consult a mental health professional before continuing.
6 Physical Health and Medical Conditions
I represent that I am physically able to engage in the practices offered, or that I will modify them appropriately for my own condition. I will not undertake practices that exceed what my body can sustain. If I have any medical condition that affects my participation — including but not limited to heart conditions, high or low blood pressure, respiratory conditions, seizure disorders, pregnancy, recent surgery, joint or spinal issues, or any condition that breathwork or sustained physical practice could affect — I will consult my physician before participating.
I assume full responsibility for any physical injury, illness, or harm that may result from my participation.
7 Sobriety Strongly Recommended
I understand that Gian Navjeet Singh strongly recommends that all yogic practices, contemplative work, and lineage teachings be undertaken in a state of sobriety. This recommendation reflects the traditional understanding within the lineages — that altered states of consciousness produced through the practice itself are the proper subject of yogic work, and that mixing externally-induced altered states with the practice complicates, contaminates, or distorts the work being done.
This recommendation covers alcohol, cannabis in any form, psilocybin, LSD, MDMA, ayahuasca, DMT, mescaline, iboga, ketamine, kratom, stimulants, opioids used outside of prescribed medical purposes, benzodiazepines used outside of prescribed purposes, and any other plant medicine, entheogen, psychedelic, dissociative, or psychoactive substance — regardless of legality in my jurisdiction, regardless of whether the substance is being used in a ceremonial, therapeutic, or integration context, and regardless of whether the substance is being used within a recognized indigenous tradition.
On plant medicines specifically: contemporary Western culture has increasingly embraced plant medicines as tools for spiritual development. The Living Path does not include, support, or integrate with this work. While respect is held for indigenous traditions in which these medicines have a legitimate ceremonial role, the yogic and lineage teachings offered here are a distinct and complete path. Mixing them with plant medicine practice is not part of what is being offered.
I understand:
- Engaging in Kundalini practices while intoxicated, altered, in residual states from substance use, or in active substance dependency creates real risk. Combining these practices with substances can produce unpredictable effects. I assume full responsibility for any harm that arises from practicing while not sober.
- Gian Navjeet Singh reserves the right to decline to teach me if I appear to be under the influence or in a residual altered state. Such decline of service does not entitle me to a refund.
- If I am in active recovery from addiction, I will consult my recovery support system about whether intensive contemplative practice is appropriate for me at this stage.
- If I am taking prescribed psychiatric medications as directed, this is a separate matter from the substance use described above and does not violate this recommendation. I will inform Gian Navjeet Singh if I am navigating a medication change or psychiatric treatment shift that could affect my engagement with the practice.
8 The Teachings Are Given as Received Through Lineage
The teachings are transmitted as Gian Navjeet Singh received them from his teachers, in the language and frameworks the traditions use to carry themselves. These traditions have their own internal philosophy, cosmology, ceremonial structures, and worldview, which may not align with — and sometimes contradict — contemporary Western political, social, therapeutic, or ideological frameworks.
By participating, I understand that I may encounter teachings, language, framings, recommendations, or worldviews that conflict with positions I hold. This is inherent to the work, not a failure of it. The teachings include traditional language about gender, family, devotion, lineage hierarchy, karma, dharma, surrender, and other concepts as the source traditions transmit them, and these may not match the frameworks I work within elsewhere in my life.
Disagreement with the teachings, the lineages, the teachers within them (past or present), the cultural contexts they emerge from, or the personal views expressed by Gian Navjeet Singh in or out of class is not a basis for refund, pause, cancellation of a commitment plan, or any other accommodation. I am purchasing access to the teachings as they are received and transmitted, not a custom-fit version adjusted to my preferences. I am free to disagree, free to step away, and free to keep my own framework — but I am not entitled to recover money paid for teachings I voluntarily purchased.
9 No Refunds. No Chargebacks. Structural Compassion via Pause.
I have read and understood The Living Path Refund Policy. I acknowledge that all sales are final and that no refunds will be offered under any circumstances, including but not limited to: dissatisfaction with the teachings, finding the practice too intense, experiencing emotional or psychological difficulty, scheduling conflicts, missed classes, change of mind, financial hardship, illness, life events, ideological disagreement with the teachings or teacher, or simply deciding the practice is not for me.
The pause feature is the structural compassion. Monthly subscribers may self-activate a two-month half-price pause through their account, once per twelve-month period, after sixty days of active subscription, with an account in good standing. This is automatic, requires no teacher approval, and is the entirety of what The Living Path offers in place of refunds. Commitment plan students (3-month, 6-month, 12-month) cannot pause — they committed to a term and the term completes.
No chargebacks. I agree that I will not initiate a chargeback, payment dispute, or claim through my bank, credit card issuer, or payment processor. If I have a concern about a charge, I will email Gian directly and allow fourteen days for a response before pursuing any external action. I understand that:
- Initiating a chargeback in violation of this provision constitutes a material breach of this agreement. If I do so, I agree that I owe the full disputed amount plus a $75 administrative fee, recoverable as a contractual debt.
- My account will be immediately and permanently terminated. I will be removed from all classes, recordings, and sangat communications. I will be banned from future purchases through The Living Path.
- I retain whatever statutory rights I have under applicable consumer protection law, including the Fair Credit Billing Act, but I am voluntarily agreeing not to exercise those rights as a condition of participation, and I have alternative remedies available (direct communication with the teacher, the pause feature, the right to cancel future charges) that I will use instead.
10 Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability
I voluntarily assume all risks associated with participating in The Living Path teachings, including risks I can foresee and risks I cannot foresee. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I waive any claim against Gian Navjeet Singh, Tanner Menard, The Living Path, the Mahasiddha Baba Sri Chand Ashram, and any associated entities, teachers, or representatives, for any harm, injury, loss, or damage of any kind arising from my participation, whether such harm is alleged to result from negligence or from any other cause.
11 Recording and Confidentiality
Classes are recorded for the benefit of subscribers and may include audio and video of participants. By attending live, I consent to such recording and to its use within The Living Path platform. If I do not wish to appear in recordings, I will attend with video off.
What is shared within private sessions and within sangat communications remains within that container. I will not record, share, post, or redistribute the personal sharings of other students or private communications from Gian Navjeet Singh without explicit permission. The teaching itself — the practices, philosophy, and lineage transmission — is offered openly. The personal disclosures of others are not mine to share.
12 Lineage and Cultural Respect
The teachings come from continuous lineages with their own histories, ceremonies, and cultural contexts. I will engage with these traditions with respect, without attempting to appropriate ceremonial elements, teaching authority, or lineage titles that have not been transmitted to me. I will not represent myself as a teacher of these traditions on the basis of my participation alone.
13 Right to Decline
Gian Navjeet Singh reserves the right to decline service to any student whose participation is disruptive, disrespectful, or inconsistent with the integrity of the practice. Discontinuation does not entitle the student to refund of past payments.
14 Governing Law and Severability
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana. If any portion of this agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining portions remain in full effect.
Refund Policy
No refunds. No exceptions.
All sales final.
By purchasing any product, subscription, or service through The Living Path, you agree that the purchase is final and non-refundable.
This applies to:
- Monthly subscriptions — once a monthly charge has processed, that month is paid and non-refundable. You may cancel future monthly charges at any time through your account.
- Commitment plans (3-month, 6-month, 12-month) — once a commitment has begun, all scheduled installments are owed regardless of subsequent use or non-use. Commitment plans cannot be cancelled mid-term.
- Drop-in classes and class packs — non-refundable. Class packs not used within their one-month window expire with no credit, transfer, or refund.
- Private sessions and session packs — non-refundable. Missed sessions, cancelled sessions with less than 24 hours notice, and unused sessions within a pack's expiration window are forfeit.
- The Spiritual Direction Journey — non-refundable in whole or in part.
- Any digital downloads, recordings, course materials, or written teachings — non-refundable.
There are no exceptions to this policy. This isn't a customer service stance — it's a structural feature of the practice. Contemplative work depends on the seriousness of the student's commitment, not on the option to withdraw if the work proves difficult or different from expected. If you require the option of a refund, please don't purchase. If you purchase, you have committed.
The pause feature exists in place of refunds.
Monthly subscribers experiencing genuine hardship can self-activate a two-month half-price pause directly through their account, once per twelve-month period. This is the structural accommodation for difficult periods. It's automatic and doesn't require teacher approval. Use it. The pause is the answer.
No chargebacks
By purchasing, you agree not to initiate chargebacks, payment disputes, or claims through your bank or credit card issuer. If you have a concern about a charge, please contact Gian directly at [email] and allow fourteen days for a response before pursuing any external dispute. If a chargeback is initiated in violation of this agreement, your account will be terminated, you will be removed from all classes and sangat communications, and the disputed amount plus a $75 administrative fee will remain owed under the terms of your purchase agreement.
This policy exists to protect the integrity of the practice for those who are sincerely committing. The Living Path is contemplative practice in a continuous lineage tradition, not consumer goods. We part with respect when students step away — but the resources allocated to your participation stay allocated.
