Gian Singh
Yogi · Poet · Student of Yogi Amandeep Ji.
"I am a yogi and a poet. My work — in the classroom, on the page, and in practice — is one work."
Gian Singh teaches Kundalini Yoga in the lineage of Yogi Amandeep Ji, in the line of the Siri Singh Sahib Yogiji. His foundational teachers in this transmission were Tej Khalsa and Harmanjot Kaur, who carried the Western lineage faithfully and gave him his early grounding. After years of wholehearted dedication to the transmission as the Siri Singh Sahib Yogiji gave it between 1969 and 2004, Gian recognized Yogi Amandeep Ji as the transmitter for this age and gave himself in devotion to learning from him.
He is a PhD candidate in poetics whose dissertation reads visionary poetry as a technology of consciousness — the formal trace of direct experience entering language. He calls the method the system of poetic emergence: a way of reading nondual poetry and scripture so that the words stop being information and become practice, and then become realization.
Gian holds the heritage of his Creole and Indigenous ancestry as part of his orientation toward re-indigenization — the active work Yogi Amandeep Ji is doing to return the teachings to their living Himalayan ground, to decolonize Kundalini Yoga, and to make the practice genuinely available to Indigenous practitioners and to anyone whose ground has been thinned by materialism and the speed of modern life.
He teaches Presence & Inquiry every Saturday, co-teaches with Taj Chander, writes a Thursday essay on poetry and practice at giannavjeet.substack.com, and offers private sessions in yogic coaching, manuscript consultation, and healing.
Teaching from one's own awakening as a humble representative of the teachings as they were given. Not as their owner. As someone trusted, for a season, to hold the door open.
